ART STATEMENT
I am Goldsmisth who like to experiment with materials in creating my one of a kind pieces. I sculpt them in wax, then forge and construct in Sterling Silver or Gold, the individual forms are shaped and manipulated through various techniques mastered through years of experimentation. Creating a unique design language with a deliberate, organic, hand-crafted feel, using sophisticated forms that are always revealing themselves in fresh, unexpected ways.
PROCESS
My pieces are hand-crafted from start to finish. My soul is in each piece, made with care and attention to details is paramount in all of my collections. Because each piece is individual handcrafted, no pieces will ever be identical.
Each design begins as picture of something that caught my attention: a texture, landscape, or architectural detail. I draw the idea on paper inspired by those elements. After sketching the shapes, they are rearranged into various possible components for a collection. This is how I develop all my designs. This process alone often takes hours, but it is very satisfying and exciting. Once I have developed a series of final designs, I bring all that inspiration to my bench.
I combine lost wax casting and fabrication processes to create my pieces. I love to use the lost wax casting method for a variety of reasons. it is an ancient technique, malleable, and allows me to manipulate the surface in order to achieve the textures and shapes I desire. Other details of my work are made directly out from the metal.
